Friday, December 4th, 2015 was my last day of classes of my first semester of Teacher's Education at uOttawa. It was an incredible feeling leaving campus that day (which ironically was the St. Paul's University campus on Main St. following a presentation there, not the regular grounds of Ottawa U), knowing that I am that much closer to becoming a qualified teacher. Although classes were complete however, we still had a few final assignments to get through before the break truly felt real. In the paragraphs below you will find links to three separate assignments, with a small description detailing each. Synthesis Activity: Critical Analyses of Planning and AssessmentThe last few classes of my PED3141: Curriculum Planning and Assessment course were dedicated to a final synthesis of all the material we had worked through since the beginning of November. In order to culminate all of our learning into one exercise, we took a critical lens to some of the resources available to us as teachers, and examined some lesson and unit ideas. The goal of this work was to use our knowledge and understanding to question as deeply and precisely as possible the pedagogical decisions, achievement expectations, assessment strategies and design of three separate examples of resources found online. I worked with two other colleagues on this work, and finalized it individually. My synthesis of my knowledge can be found here: Lesson Plan Version 2.0In November I completed my first official lesson plan for the course PED3141-Curriculum Planning and Assessment. This plan was the first version, and now after feedback and revisions, Version 2.0 has been completed. We received detailed and descriptive feedback from our professor (something we are all learning how to do, as well!!), and used said feedback for the next iteration of our Landform Communities Unit.
