Before beginning my Bachelor of Education, I told myself I would do everything I could to get involved and be present in my faculty. Therefore, when an e-mail went out in November to all Faculty of Education members looking for those interested in being part of the planning committee for the annual end of year symposium, I jumped on the chance to have a voice. Every year, the end of year symposium "focuses on the attitudes, knowledge and skills needed for education in the 21st century" (University of Ottawa). This conference is meant to even further prepare teacher candidates for their future careers in education. Teacher candidates attend presentations and participate in workshops delivered by current educators and practitioners where they will learn how to better prepare themselves for the challenges and demands of today's classrooms. After attending the first meeting, I was hooked on being a part of this essential team and could not wait to have an impact of what was shared at our own conference. |
